Professor training

Improving education will necessarily involve a continued teachers training. In this framework and taking in consideration the substancial scientific information that the museum has, as well as the requests of the academic community, the Madeira Whale Museum started the developing  of a continued training for teachers of different areas, according to the dispatch nº 106/2005, from 21st September and validated by the Regional Direction of Education.

The first edition was held on 12th, 21st and 28th of November, denominated "Cetáceos no Arquipélago da Madeira - da investigação à educação (Nível 1)", being validated for the recruitment group 230 and 520. Besides contemplating the exploration of the different museologic spaces and holding a sea trip for identification of the seen cetaceans, it was a component dedicated to edcatuion, promoting te information association between cetaceans and the academic practices developed by teachers.

The Madeira Whale Museum will develop other trainings validated for other recruitment groups that shortly will be promoted.

Besides this formations, the institution has been aproached to perform other formative components, in collaboration with other insitutions. 

A - Regional Direction of Urban and Environmental Planing (DROTA)

DROTA invited the Madeira Whale Museum to participated in the "Regional encounter of Eco-Schools", that occurred on 23th and 24th of October 2015. In this context, was been developed a workshop about marine polution for a group of 45 teachers of several recruitment groups, this action being previously validated by the Regional Direction of Education.

B - Gonçalves Zarco Secundary School (Funchal)

The teaching training committee invited, in November 2015, the museum's Educative Services to attend in two training initiatives:

1 - II meeting of Regional and Local History in the School - taking place on 29th and 30th of january 2016, whose target audience will be teachers of the recruitment groups (100, 110, 140, 200, 240, 250, 300, 400, 420 and 600). Madeira Whale Museum participation will be made through the communication " The museological education and the preservation of the culture heritage.

2 - Journeys : Re(think) evaluation at School - being held on 19th and 20th of February 2016. In this educative jorneys will be addressed new contexts of learning, between those of museums, their relation between School and subsequent evaluation.
