During our survey in Cape Verde for the MARCET II project we deployed a satellite tag on a pilot whale, which is the first tag deployed on cetaceans in that archipelago. This tag will help us understand the movement and the habitat use of this species in Cape Verde. We are amazed by the biodiversity and abundance of animals that we observed in the southermost archipelago of the Macarronesia. During the MARCET II survey in Cape Verde 10 different species of cetaceans were observed.

During the first half of September, the scientific team of the MWM was in Cape Verde for the project Marcet II, transferring knowledge about the monitoring of cetacean populations. A workshop was held in São Vicente and a successful survey was done around São Nicolau island.
